At LocalLinked, trust is at the heart of everything we build. Our mission is to connect students, academics, and businesses across local communities, but we know that real connections require confidence, transparency, and security.
 

Eligibility Verification

We verify that our members are actively affiliated with recognised UK universities including students, academic staff, and researchers. 

  • Only verified users with a ".ac.uk" university email address can access student and academic-only offers.

  • Verification is completed via a one-time email confirmation to your university account. This helps us ensure that only genuine academic community members can access exclusive offers and opportunities.

  • Fraudulent accounts are banned under our Terms of Use.
     

Privacy and Data Protection

We collect and store only what’s necessary to provide and improve our services, nothing more.

All personal data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and we delete your information within 30 days of account closure unless legally required to retain it.

LocalLinked complies with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Safe Community Standards

We expect everyone to uphold our Community Expectations:

  • Treat businesses, event hosts, and fellow users with respect.

  • Avoid harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behaviour.

  • Report inappropriate content or behaviour via our in-app tools or by contacting us.

Zero tolerance for abuse ensures a positive environment for all.
 

Merchant and Partner Protections

If you're a local business, charity, or partner organisation:

  • Only verified users can access your offers.

  • We provide anonymised, aggregated engagement insights, never personal data.

  • Our fraud monitoring tools protect your listings and promotions.
